Free roadmap – your 5 essential checks for smooth terminal operations
In the ever-changing world of container logistics, this free roadmap contains easy checks to keep your container moving and avoid extra costs.
1. Presence: Is your container where it should be?
Check if the container is already available or expected at the right terminal. Not yet visible? Check the website of the shipping line if the container will arrive with the scheduled vessel.
2. Release: Who’s got the green light?
For imports:
- Has the container been released to you — either with a PIN code or via Portbase (Rotterdam), NxtPort, or SCR (Antwerp)?
- Have you assigned it to the right trucker?
For exports:
- Do you have the correct release to pick up the empty container at depot / terminal?
3. Customs: No clearance, no movement
Make sure your import or export customs documentation (e.g. T1, MRN, IM-A) is uploaded in the correct platform:
- Portbase for Rotterdam
- TUL or APCS for Antwerp
Also, check there’s no customs block on your container at the terminal.
4. Dangerous Goods (ADR): Data match = smooth drop-off
If you’re exporting hazardous cargo, make sure the ADR details match with the terminal’s data.
5. Cargo/Yard opening Terminals: Trust is good, double-check keeps the container on track”
Always double-check the “ETA” and “cargo/yard opening times” on the terminal’s official website. Shipping line info is often outdated or incomplete — and that can lead to temporary storage costs.
🎯 Bonus: Fewer headaches
By following these five simple steps, you’ll stay ahead of delays, avoid last-minute surprises, and keep your container flow under control.
